Luna: young, well-behaved dog for adoption in Indianapolis

August 14th, 2008 · No Comments · dogs for adoption, pet adoption

Luna dog profileLuna, a young female dog, is available for adoption in Indianapolis (see more photos below the description.) From the woman who found her:

“These are pictures of the dog my husband and I rescued on Friday night, August 8th. She’s the smaller one in the pictures. My husband found her in a basement of an abandoned house.  We think she was in the basement for close to a month and didn’t have much to eat.  She’s still very skinny and we’re pretty sure she was abused.

We named her Luna and we’re trying to find her a home.  She has tons of energy and is very, very loveable. She seems to be pretty young and is very even tempered.  My dog jumped all over her and wouldn’t leave her alone all weekend, and Luna didn’t bark or snip at all.  She doesn’t bark and sleeps easily through the night.

We really want to find her a home. If you know someone who might be interested in adopting Luna or can help us find her a home, let us know.”

Tilda: “I’m a pretty Siamese, so adopt me please!”

Tilda: siamese cat for adoption in Indianapolis

**UPDATE 6/22/08** Tilda has been adopted! We wish the best to her and her new family.

I am a four-year-old Tortie Point Siamese cat, and my name is Matilda, or Tilda for short. I was born in a north Indy condo on April 13, 2004. My mother, the “A” cat in our household, has rejected me as a member of the family. I’m now lonely and traumatized and am living under the couch. I would like to find a new home and a new family who could restore my self-confidence. A family where I’m the only cat might be best to bring me out of my isolated existence. I’m a healthy girl: my shots are up to date, my front paws are de-clawed, and I’ve eaten dry Science Diet all my life. Please contact Tristan through Adopt An Animal so I can meet you ASAP.

Amy: “I’m a sweet, laid-back pit bull looking for a home!”

May 14th, 2008 · No Comments · pet adoption, successful adoptions

Amy

<<UPDATE 5/27/08 :: I’ve been adopted into a loving home whose kitty has accepted me!>>

My name’s Amy, and I’m looking for a forever home.

I’m six years old, and because they were moving, my previous family surrendered me to Indianapolis Animal Care and Control in February. IACC doesn’t adopt out pit bulls like me, no matter how sweet we are, so it would have been certain death for me had a foster group not come along save me. Every kennel card from the various places I’ve stayed before becoming a foster dog all say the same thing: “This is a VERY sweet dog.”

If I do say so myself, I’m a laid back girl and would make a great pet! My friend Edgar the cat plays with my tail, and I couldn’t care less. I’ve met numerous dogs and loved them all. Even an old grouchy dog in my extended family who doesn’t like anyone said I’m A-okay.

If you’re looking for a running companion or a hiking partner, I’m probably not your best bet. But if you’re looking for a fellow couch potato to keep you company, I’ll be your perfect match. I do like going for a walk around the block, but prefer sidewalks to the woods. Like a lot of my friends, I also love to ride in the car, unless you insist I ride in a crate: that makes me howl! It doesn’t make me love my foster family any less, though!

If you’d love to love me the same way I’d love you, let the nice people at AAA know, or contact my foster mom!

-Amy

Tigger: tiger-striped kitten

<<UPDATE:: 4/21/08 :: Tigger was successfully adopted from the Henry County Animal Shelter this past weekend. Congratulations on becoming someone’s pet, Tigger!>>
This cute, cuddly, affectionate little tiger-striped male kitten, Tigger, is being kept by a very temporary foster family in New Castle, Indiana, about 45 minutes East of Indianapolis (though you don’t have to live in New Castle to take Tigger home with you!) He’s about eight weeks old and has four white feet. This stray cat is being kept at the foster home for only a few days before it he’s taken to the Henry County Animal Shelter, as the foster already has four cats in her house. Contact us so you can give this sweet guy a home!

Sophie and Buster:
German Shepherd and Mixed-Breed Dog Available for Adoption

April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments · successful adoptions

<<UPDATE: 4/30/2008 - I’m happy to announce that Sophie and Buster have been adopted into a loving home, together!!! - Tristan>>

These two good-looking dogs were found together wandering the Northside of Indianapolis recently. The German Shepherd (Sophie) and the pit mix (Buster) had no tags and no collars. Check out the camera-phone video above, shot by their foster “mom” who tells their story:

“Sophie, a female german shepherd, and Buster, a male pit bull mix, were found without tags or collars wandering near the NUVO offices at 4oth and Meridian St. in Indianapolis; when the owner was tracked down by their microchips, he said he’d let them out hoping they didn’t come back. They are both approx. 2 years old; have been spayed and neutered; and were given a clean bill of health by the vet this week. They are very loving, playful, and loyal dogs (both are under the impression that they are lap dogs! and they are bed hogs when given the opportunity to sleep indoors!!!) They are aggressive towards other dogs and cats, however, and should not be adopted into a home with other pets. Ideally, we hope they can stay together, as they are very attached to one another. If you would like more information contact Laura at (317)254-2400 x 5231.”

Check out their pictures, and please contact us or Laura if you’re interested in adopting these two lovable pals.
